MY APPROACH

Good therapy starts with feeling comfortable.

I believe good therapy starts with connection. A strong therapeutic relationship creates the foundation for meaningful work and helps us develop a shared understanding of what is happening, what may be maintaining difficulties, and what you would like to change.

My approach is grounded in evidence-based psychological practice and tailored to your individual needs and goals. I draw on clinical assessment and psychological knowledge to guide intervention, with a focus on practical strategies that can make a meaningful difference in everyday life.

I see therapy as a collaborative process. You bring your values, preferences and knowledge of your life, while I bring psychological knowledge and clinical expertise. Together, we set meaningful goals, review what is working and adapt the approach as your needs and priorities change.

Ultimately, therapy is about more than reducing symptoms. It is an opportunity to develop greater understanding, build useful skills and make meaningful changes that support the life you want to live.

ABOUT ME

KELSEY VAN DER TUIN

Registered Psychologist

My path to psychology began in community services, where I spent eight years working as a youth worker. Supporting young people and families fostered a strong interest in helping people navigate challenges and work towards meaningful goals. This ultimately led me to pursue a Master of Professional Psychology and gain full registration as a psychologist.

I now work with children, adolescents and adults across a broad range of concerns. I have a particular interest in treating anxiety disorders, as well as working with emotional difficulties, self-esteem, life transitions and helping people develop a greater understanding of themselves and the patterns that shape their lives. I enjoy the variety that comes with working with people at different ages and stages of life.

I value ongoing learning and professional development and enjoy continuing to build my knowledge and skills as a psychologist. I am committed to providing an inclusive practice where people of different backgrounds, identities and experiences feel welcome and respected.

I believe I bring a warm, thoughtful and down-to-earth nature to my work. I aim to create an environment that feels friendly and comfortable; while remaining thoughtful and purposeful in the work I do with clients. My style is approachable and genuine, and I value therapy that feels both professional and human.
